Commissionable work
Once you know what needs examining, you should know exactly what the work includes.
Commercial clarity
A clear boundary does not make the work shallow. It makes complexity holdable.
- Know what information and participation are required.
- Know which note, design, or decision artifact you receive.
- Know what the work cannot establish and when it stops.
- Know the price before committing to greater depth.
One body of work, several depths
Begin narrowly. Go only as deep as the real system requires.
You do not have to begin at 01. Start with the sentence closest to what is happening, then see what that depth of work provides.
A bounded paid first step for one difficult problem or live decision.
“I know something is wrong, and I may be making an important decision from an incomplete picture.”
You leave knowing what is observed, what is still a hypothesis, which evidence is missing, and what decision is responsible next.
- Duration
- Pre-read + 90 minutes + note within 3 business days
- Investment
- USD 750 fixed fee
Evidence-led investigation of the system producing a recurring or consequential problem.
“Everyone has a reasonable explanation, but no explanation accounts for the whole thing.”
You leave with a shared, evidence-backed explanation of where the problem sits, what is producing it, and which part of the system should—or should not—change.
- Duration
- 5 business days to 4 weeks, depending on scope
- Investment
- USD 2,500–10,000
Decision-ready or implementation-ready design for the change that credible evidence supports.
“We know what is not working, but every fix to one part seems to damage another.”
You leave with enough design to approve, defer, or reject the change—or, when implementation readiness is commissioned, a package internal teams and specialists can carry forward without inventing its logic as they go.
- Duration
- 4–8 weeks
- Investment
- USD 10,000–25,000
Protect design integrity while internal teams or specialists implement the change.
“I am concerned that the approved design will be changed one practical decision at a time until its original intent is gone.”
You leave with an implementation that has been reviewed against the agreed intent, a record of consequential changes, and an internal team able to govern the system after SE Ocean exits.
- Duration
- Runs with the implementation programme
- Investment
- 15–20% of build budget, USD 5,000 minimum
Parallel path
Strategic Decision Advisory
“The decision remains mine, but I should not have to hold every layer of the complexity alone.”
Bounded external judgment around a defined consequential decision, with trade-offs, risks, decision records, review cadence, and an explicit exit point.
- Duration
- Project advisory or 3-month minimum when continuity is required
- Price
- USD 3,000–6,000 per month
No mandatory progression
Stop, self-handle, or refer can be the correct result.
SE Ocean does not measure success by moving a client into the largest engagement. Success is choosing only the depth that the evidence can justify.
